The Niagara architecture enables the supervision, automation, and control of intelligent field devices through a data network.

By intelligent field devices, we refer to traditional control system components (sensors, actuators, and acquisition and command modules) with integrated CPUs and communication protocols.

This architecture, in particular, allows seamless operation with the most common market protocols (LonWorks, Bacnet, EIB, Modbus, OPC, etc.) as well as with proprietary protocols from leading companies (e.g., Honeywell).

In any case, it is possible to define high-level drivers for more structured protocols or configure the field interface serial for simpler protocols.
